This website is a humble attempt to tell through words and pictures the life, ministry and accomplishments of John Alexander Dowie and his unique place in Christian history. Though long forgotten by many, at the time of his zenith, he was a world renowned leader in the divine healing circles and known to presidents and world leaders.
He was instrumental in the foundation of the Christian Catholic Church, the publication of Leaves of Healing and A Voice From Zion, and the creation of Zion City Illinois.

My God and Father in Jesus name I come to Thee. Take me as I am. Make me what I ought to be in spirit, in soul, in body. Give me power to do right no matter what it costs. Give me thy Holy Spirit. After hymn number 271 has been sung, the General Overseer closes the service with the following pray and benediction.
Father Eternal command thy blessing. Everyone here is Thy offspring. They may have wondered far from Thee. The mark of Cain may be upon the brows for these unsaved. Thou wouldst permit no man to fail. And Thou didst came into the very abyss thy sinless Son to bring back those have sinned. When the whole world rejected Thee thousands of years ago. When Noah preached the people would not hear and they fell and to the spirits in prision Thou didst send Jesus to preach.
Let me remind you what had happened that day. A man who had been lame from his mother’s womb, who was about 40 years of age, had suddenly been healed. He was able to jump and leap. And everybody was astonished. After that healing Peter preached a sermon and no less than five thousand men were saved. I always think there must have been ten thousand women.
Women are saved in about half the time it takes to save men and in double the number. They always lead the way in salvation and they ought to because our Mother Eve that led us out of paradise and her daughters ought to lead us back. Women ought to be better than men. Thank God they are.
The majority of men are a stinking bad lot. I am ashamed to say it. The majority of men in Chicago can be smelled several yards off. They stink of nicotine and alcohol and all kinds of medical muck. Ugh, you dirty dogs who chew your tobacco and puff your smoke. useful the sun drives the and transferring your festing in our offices and in your homes. The wind carries it back to our nostrils and into our lungs. And good women and some clean men have to breath your disease breeding filth. dirty dog you call yourself Christians? Ugh How can a man be a Christian whose house is a seplecutre and whose stomach is a dirty pigpen. Ugh you dirty dog, and diease of the stomach and bowel.And friends listen, you are worst than dogs and I apologize to the dogs for they are far cleaner and better behaved than many men who are slaves to nicotine in the form of tobacco.
After listening to this reading the comprehensive and ?? which the General Overseer has just delivered to you through the gramaphone, I am at a lost to know how to speak to you. But as he has asked me to give my testimony I must say a few a words.
It is always a pleasure to speak of what God has wrought. And if we did not tell of His wonderful works and give praise to Him, the very stones would cry out against us. Surely, Goodness and Mercy have followed us all the days of our lives. And we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
For many years we have believed and taught that Jesus the Christ came to take our infirmities and bear our sicknesses It has been our joy to see many thousands of His children who have believed and received this truth. And we have heard them witness to a perfect salvation for spirit, soul and body.
We can testify to day that we know that these witnesses speak the truth when they say that they have been healed through faith in Jesus.
From a little child I have believed in God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ as our Heavenly Father and in Christ as our Redeemer and in the Holy Spirit as our Sanctifier.
Since so young that I wondered what these long words meant I was so taught. And as soon as I knew that God intended us to be redeemed from all the power of the Evil one, I trusted in His love. Who gave up His only Son for this sinful world. But not til I was about 24 years of age did I know that Christ had born our sicknesses and that He had provided a full salvation for our body as well as for our soul and spirit.
